Directors

Roh Smith

Roh began life in a small town in the smallest state on the smallest continent.  He has never forgotten his humble beginnings.  He landed a job as a cameraperson with Tasmanian television as a mere slip of a lad.  Someone handed him a camera and said “shoot”.

Later he went to AFTRS and studied cinematography where he spent the entire time hiding from actors.  After wandering around South East Asia as a DOP, he eventually decided he really did like actors after all. Since then Roh has been plying his trade as a director specialising in drama and comedy.

Ben loves to skate, surf, and make films with an honest, chocolatey style. His work dances onscreen, invoking warm memories of summers gone by, fun with friends and intimate moments shared. He finds beauty in every situation, capturing the most delicate details through the lens of his DSLR.

Ben specialises in indie film, and has DOP’d, directed and produced videos for some amazing clients the world over.

Hugh Sullivan

Hugh’s keen interest in performance and visual storytelling have produced award-winning works that have screened at a variety of international festivals. Having studied Directing at AFTRS, he brings a capacity for succinct yet emotionally engaging narratives to the commercial realm.

Stephen de Villiers

Stephen is a South African-born director of film, television, branded online and corporate content.

Since graduating from AFTRS with Distinctions, Stephen has picked up awards for his internationally-distributed Boer War drama Commando, and AFTRS production Legend, penned by acclaimed Happy Feet writer Judy Morris.

Stephen approaches every project with fervour; a love of storytelling, a passion for working with actors and a highly-detailed visual eye make him an exciting filmmaker to watch.

Paul Currie
