About Matt Holcomb
Matt is the writer-director of the Screen NSW-funded short film, “Flat Daddy”, nominated for Best Short Film at the 5th AFI/AACTA Awards, and Best Director at the Academy Award-accredited St Kilda Film Festival in 2015. “Flat Daddy” was subsequently invited to screen in competition at the prestigious Palm Springs International ShortFest, Adelaide Film Festival, Flickerfest, and the HollyShorts Film Festival.
Matt is a natural storyteller with the capacity for cinematic image-making, the ability to work closely with actors to elicit nuanced performances, and the creative flexibility to work within a range of styles and genres.
Recent commercial work includes a successful TV spot for Alfa Romeo via Cummins&Partners, and a cinema ad (and TV cut-downs) for Federation University Australia via Publicis Worldwide. The Federation University cinema ad formed the centrepiece of a highly successful cross-platform launch campaign, which won the prestigious Henry Hoke Award at the 2014 DMA ECHO Awards in San Diego.
